Rev. Judith Campbell has been the part time minister of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Martha's Vineyard since early 2001. Judy holds a PhD in the arts and Religious Studies from the Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio. Before entering the ministry, she was a Professor of Art at Lesley University. She has published four books: two on watercolor painting, a book of poetry and a book of children's stories. She writes for UU&ME, an internationally distributed Unitarian Universalist children's magazine. Judy lives in Oak Bluffs with her husband Chris Stokes, who calls himself, among other things, a professional Englishman, two cats and any number of plants. She is an active voice/presence in the interfaith clergy group, and in the community speaking out on issues of social justice and peace efforts. Even though ministry consumes most of her time, she continues to work at her art when she can. She is working on another book of poetry, and is also an active quiltmaker. Judy has led retreats in the arts and the spirit across America and in Great Britain, and has made a number of presentations at the Unitarian Universalist annual General Assembly. She brings her spiritual energy and her passion for life to our community, and as a result, church membership is on the increase.
